The first few times I saw it, I thought nothing of it. Nothing to worry about I thought. Someone at the assembly line for a few of these laptops must have been getting into the LSD or something. Much to my complete disgust, I discovered today that these keyboards are not few and far in between. They are becoming the norm.

Walking around Best Buy today, almost every single laptop computer on sale, if not all of them are using these so called ‘bi-lingual’ keyboards. Now I have nothing against an optional SKU for those that have a use for it, but you can have my US layout keyboard when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I’ve been keeping one eye on the Apple store in West Edmonton Mall ever since I was made aware of the quiet construction that was taking place.

When Apple announced the grand opening for this weekend and added the incentive of free t-shirts for the first thousand people, I had little choice but to check it out.

There is no shortage of potential iPhone users infesting the Internet with their whining and moaning about the outrageous service plans Rogers is tossing towards Canada. Not wanting to feel left out, I’m compelled to contribute two cents of my own.

Every individual has a tipping point, once that point is reached said individual will flip their potential service provider the bird and tell them to keep their f*cking iPhone. With the announcement at WWDC 2008 that Canadians would no longer be shunned, I was excited. Extremely excited.

For years I have been massively annoyed by the complete utter lack of high end Bluetooth mice. I’ve always written the issue off with an excuse along the lines of “they’ll come soon, it just takes time for the industry to adopt a new technology.”

Enough! I’m tired of waiting! I didn’t want to do this, but I no longer have a choice. I will now whine profusively about the issue. With any luck, maybe some executive at a major peripheral manufacturer will get a clue and build a new mouse just for me (I’m looking at you Logitech!) I’m going to pick on Logitech in specific only because they have been my favorite manufacturer of computer mice for as long as I can remember.

Not being a man of patience, I figured with the final release of Gnome 2.22 included in the latest Hardy Beta, now would be a good time to jump on the Hardy band-wagon.

Everything seems to be working solid. They’ve even included the previously missing Keyspan module. Woo hoo!

Unfortunately I did run into one major issue, Compiz completely stopped working after the upgrade.
