Running Motorola CNUT 3 on Mac OS X

June 2nd, 2009

Almost a week short of two years ago I ported Motorola’s CNUT tool to OS X. I originally did so to satisfy my personal use but also decided to share the package for others who fall into the tiny niche of being responsible for the administration of Canopy networks and wanting to use OS X to do so.

As my need lessened for such a package due to a change in positions and responsibilities, the package was neglected shortly after. Although the original package still works, Canopy firmware 9.0 and later require the use of CNUT 3.x.

Banishing Inferno to the Basement

June 1st, 2009

I’m now back to my regular ol’ routine, just finished a week long “staycation.” So other than spend quality time with the family, what does a system administrator who doesn’t have to go to work for a week do with his time? Pull some CAT5 and clean up my home network, of course!

I accepted these lousy terms, cause well, I’m Canadian. Our cellphone industry is a joke and I wanted an iPhone. What else can I say?

Who’s the IDIOT screwing up Canadian laptops?!

September 17th, 2008

The first few times I saw it, I thought nothing of it. Nothing to worry about I thought. Someone at the assembly line for a few of these laptops must have been getting into the LSD or something. Much to my complete disgust, I discovered today that these keyboards are not few and far in between. They are becoming the norm.

Walking around Best Buy today, almost every single laptop computer on sale, if not all of them are using these so called ‘bi-lingual’ keyboards. Now I have nothing against an optional SKU for those that have a use for it, but you can have my US layout keyboard when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Guess who’s a year old?

September 6th, 2008

Well, there you have it! Natalie celebrated her first birthday today! Her progress in the last six months have been incredible, I can only imagine the next six.

She has recently began to favor walking over crawling and can now dash quite speedily throughout the house. Her sense of curiosity and desire to explore are developing as rapidly as her personality.
